International Women's Day - March 8th 2014 celebrated with the Mothers of Thayi Project

There is a topic given for International Women's Day every year. The topic for this year was
"Inspiring Change" it was an apt topic for the Mother's of the Thayi Project as we are planning to make this into a self help group model and thus form a Thayi Sangha.
We started the program with a prayer service, Thanking God for all the abundance of blessings showered on all gathered there.
Mrs.Gila Pereira was the chief Guest for the event, The Mothers of the Thayi Project were highly excited to see her after a long time as it was she who started the Thayi Project along with Father Mariano in the year 2007. One of the mothers even came to me and thanked me with tears for inviting her as the chief guest.
It was very heart touching and made me realize as to how she has inspired them then and now. she has been a source of inspiration for so many women whomsoever she has come across so far.
She had brought along with her another friend who is currently working with her, She came to tell the mother's as to how she was inspired by Gila Mam to Change to what she is today, very confident, Vibrant and interested to do so many new things and she did not stop with that she had also bought some gifts which she had made herself and gifted it to all the mothers present there.
Mrs.Gila Pereira gave a very inspiring speech to the Mothers to change for their betterment and how they should take care of their children specially their girl children who are precious gifts given by God to them and she made them understand that how they have to take care and bring up these precious gifts to wonderful and Beautiful Women.
After which we had the Cake cutting by all the mothers initiated by Lakshmi M, Our success story.
The cake was prepared by Gila Mam herself and it was so yummy that it just melted into our mouth enriching our taste buds.
After the cake cutting we had a gift for all the women present there and that was a "Torch Light" it was explained to them that only if they switch on the torch light will the light be shown same way only when they decide to change and take steps to change can they change t
heir life's for a better life and thus inspire even other women to change by being an example or a role model.  A Torch Light is used to show the way for oneself and to others, same way if they change their life's they can also become better and also show the way and inspire others to change like our Gila Mam.

Valentines Day Celebrated by the iLead trainees with Daya Niketen Children

Flowers, Candy, red hearts and romance .That are what Valentine’s Day is all about right? Well, maybe not.
The origin of this holiday for the expression of love really isn’t romantic at all – at least not in the traditional sense.
The real story of Saint Valentines Day is as follows:
In the year 269 AD in Rome, “Polygamy” was very popular than just one woman and one man living together. And yet some of them seemed to be attracted to the Christian faith which preached that marriage was very sacred between one man and one woman for their life and that it was to be encouraged.
The idea of encouraging them to marry within the Christian church was what Valentine was about and he secretly blessed the marriages as it was against the edict passed by the Roman emperor then called Claudius the second, who persecuted the church at that particular time.
Valentine was eventually caught, imprisoned and tortured for performing marriage ceremonies against command of Emperor Claudius the second. There are legends surrounding Valentine’s action while in prison.
The iLead trainees from Aide et Action along with their trainers had come to Daya Niketen to celebrate the Valentines Day with our day care center boys who are intellectually disabled and make the Valentines day celebration more meaningful by spreading the message of  love to those who are not loved or thought about.
