A Milestone of Grace: Welcoming the Don Orione Mission to Kottar

We are overjoyed to share a beautiful update from our newly established exploratory presence in the Diocese of Kottar, Tamil Nadu! Following the official blessing of the Don Orione House on June 23rd—a date made doubly sacred as it marked the 154th birthday of our beloved founder, St. Louis Orione—our community gathered in profound thanksgiving.

The day was filled with fraternity, prayer, and a vibrant spirit of introduction as local clergy, religious, and parishioners came together to welcome the Sons of Divine Providence.

Reflecting on this grace-filled day, Fr. Christopher shared a moving message with the congregation:

“Good evening, dear Fathers and Brothers,It was a wonderful occasion to share about our congregation and our Founder. Many people, religious sisters and brothers, as well as diocesan priests, attended the inauguration of our new house. It was a joyful opportunity for many to learn more about our congregation and the charism of our Founder.In the evening, at around 6:30 PM, we celebrated Holy Mass in the parish church. Fr. Arul presided over the Eucharistic celebration. During the Mass, we also had the opportunity to introduce our Founder and our congregation to the faithful. The people were very happy to welcome us and expressed great interest in our mission.We thank God for this blessed day and for the warm reception we received from everyone.Thank you very much.”

Growing the Seed of Charity

As we move forward in this exploratory phase, our hearts are full of gratitude for the open arms of the Diocese of Kottar, under the guidance of His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Nazarene Soosai. In the spirit of St. Orione, this new presence aims to quietly weave itself into the local fabric, seeking out opportunities to serve children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the elderly, and the most vulnerable.
